Dr Christina Demski is an environmental psychologist at the University of Bath, specialising in public perceptions and engagement with climate change and energy. She is Deputy Director of the ESRC-funded UK Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST), and has over 50 publications including in high-profile journals such as Nature. She regularly advises governmental and other organisations on public engagement with climate change and decarbonisation, most recently as Net Zero Public Engagement Advisor to BEIS (secondment). Christina’s background as a psychologist and close work with other social science disciplines means she has diverse theoretical knowledge relevant to public engagement with net zero, as well as advanced quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research skills. Christina’s current projects include cross-national and longitudinal survey designs to better understand climate change perceptions and behaviours, focus groups and deliberative methods to examine public preferences for low-carbon technologies (e.g., renewables, heating, energy storage) and lifestyle changes. Previous research has focused on public perceptions of energy security, affordability and trust.
