Robin Irons

Associate Professor

Robin Irons has a BSc(Eng) and a PhD,  both in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College. London. He worked in environmental research and research management for a number of large international power companies for 30 years.  He has been working on industrial decarbonisation since around 2002 and led the technical support for a number of utility-scale CO2 capture projects across Europe. He has had a career-long connection with university research as collaborator and sponsor. He joined the University of Nottingham in 2017 and is currently an Associate Professor in Chemical and Environmental Engineering and is Director of a Centre for Doctoral Training which has around 40 doctoral students researching methods to decarbonise existing energy infrastructure both rapidly and cost-effectively.
